Non-stop excitement at Boutique Day 2011
Amid squeals of delight, more than 400 high school girls walked into a rainbow of 2,600 prom dresses lined up by size and color at the Holmes Sports Center at Simmons College on Saturday, April 16. A volunteer “personal shopper” accompanied each girl.
At the daylong invitation-only event, more than 300 volunteers showered the girls with attention to ensure that they would have the perfect look for prom night. The enthusiastic volunteers came from the Junior League of Boston, the Boston Bruins Ice Girls, Blitz and Boston University, as well as other colleges, companies and organizations.
Also on hand as personal shoppers were JAM’N-94.5 morning personality, Pebbles, FOX-TV25 reporter, Tyisha Fernandes and Norissa Morse, former Miss Teen Maine. Along with choosing the perfect gown, the girls received makeup tips from Mary Kay consultant Kathryn Corley, hair tips on the hottest styles from the Empire Beauty Schools, and had their portrait taken in their prom gown by Joan Ross Photography of Danvers, MA. Volunteer seamstresses were also available to make alterations.
The day exuded energy and excitement with raffles of over 60 gift certificates to hair salons and beauty spas, selecting jewelry and makeup and over 300 pairs of trendy shoes.
Radiant and confident, the girls were glowing with dreams of an unforgettable prom.
