Sponsored by Anton’s Cleaners, a family-owned chain of 43 stores in Eastern Massachusetts and Southern New Hampshire, Belle of the Ball cleans and distributes prom dresses to high school junior and senior girls who would otherwise not have the opportunity to attend their school’s prom. Since the program began in 2005, more than 1,475 girls have received beautiful dresses.

The 2011 boutique was held on Saturday, April 16. Every girl deserves to experience her prom and feel radiant, but some simply cannot afford it. Those who helped made this a reality. All gowns were cleaned free of charge by Anton’s Cleaners and displayed at a boutique for girls who are prequalified by referral partners, such as EMPIRE BEAUTY SCHOOL and other schools and community organizations. Each girl “shops” for the dream dress with a personal shopper.

In kind partners included EMPIRE BEAUTY SCHOOL, lead by Boston Career Planning Specialists Emily Shuman and Lisa Blaine-Newhook. Empire students, Sheryl, Shannon, and Kat gave on-site prom beauty consultations. Coupons for special deals for prom day hair and make-up at the school’s clinic/salon were also given out. Other contributors included Joan Ross Photography, Mary Kay Cosmetics, The Boston Bruin’s Ice Girls. The event was cover by Fox 25 News, Jamin’ 94.5 fm and Kiss 108 fm.

It was an amazing time for Emily, Lisa and the students are proud to say they were a part of it. As you can see in this video, they had fun, met new people and really made these girls feel like a beautiful young ladies they are!
